During his year in Zanzibar
Time always flies, and all the anxieties before departure seem to have happened yesterday. Suddenly, the foreign aid mission has been completed and returned to China. The past year flashed through my mind like a montage. I don’t know if it was because I was reluctant to leave Zanzibar, or because it wanted to leave a mark on my life. I am not a director, so I cannot interpret these moments into a complete film, but countless thoughts came to me before leaving, and I couldn't help but transform into a man with delicate emotions, letting those hot emotions surge in my chest and flow in my blood.
Fierce and strong patriotism
When we first arrived in Zanzibar, when we were walking on the road, many locals always said "hello" enthusiastically in standard Chinese, which surprised us and was strange. After chatting with the locals, I found out that the Chinese medical team has been working here for 60 years. Group after group of medical team members are like health guards, guarding the island residents. The local people are grateful and have already regarded the Chinese as their best friends. This feeling is very subtle. You are respected as a Chinese first, and then you are needed as a medical team member. Later, at work, I realized how backward the medical conditions in Sang Island were. I felt deeply that China not only achieved universal medical insurance coverage, but also provided high-quality medical services. In comparison, I felt that the motherland was even more amazing! This is not only true in terms of medical care, but also in terms of education and people's livelihood. The average education level on Sand Island is only a junior high school graduate. The vast majority of young people cannot find jobs. Most residents' houses do not even have windows. It’s true that “I don’t know the true face of Mount Lu, just because I am in this mountain”! The greatest happiness for the Chinese people is to have a prosperous and strong China! That sense of pride arises spontaneously, and that patriotism will always be hot!
Fellow travelers who teach people how to fish
There are twenty anesthesiologists in the anesthesiology department of Nazmoga Hospital where I am located. During this year, we worked together to protect various surgeries. We have rescued many critically ill patients and launched a number of new technology projects. Local doctors have full trust in Chinese doctors. Whenever they encounter difficult problems, they always call me as soon as possible, and I will rush to the scene immediately and do my best to help because I know that Chinese doctors here are here to protect the people. A healthy bottom line. After work, I will also give some professional lectures to local doctors, hoping to teach them some advanced technologies and concepts. It is better to teach people to fish than to teach them to fish. I hope that Chinese doctors can also shoulder the heavy responsibility of doctors when they are away. Before leaving, Corey held a small farewell party. The local doctor said to me, Dr. Gu , thank you for your selfless dedication to us over the past year. You are already a member of our family. We are not materially rich. , there is nothing we can give you, but we will pray for you every day, wish you happiness , and hope that you will have the opportunity to come here again in the future. Yes, I will definitely come back in a few years, and I also believe that the future of Sangdao will be better!
Good teammates who support each other
Our Sandao site has a total of 12 team members, including specialists, translators and chefs. The age span is relatively wide, ranging from those born in the 1970s to those born in the 1990s. After a year of living together, we have completely become a family. What we are most proud of is that even when the family lives under the same roof and there are angry quarrels, our team members have never blushed once. From the day of the training camp, everyone has always cared about, understood and supported each other. If a team member is sick, meals will be delivered to the bedside. If you need help from your teammates for work, they will always respond. When someone's family encounters difficulties, they must work together to help solve the problem. In this place thousands of miles away from home, only by fully trusting each other and treating each other without reservation can we spend this year's foreign aid time relying on each other. It is very likely that this is the last time we will live together in our lives, and we all cherish it very much and are reluctant to part with it. But I believe that no matter how many years pass, this friendship will never dissipate. Every moment of living together will still be our common memories. We will always be a family!
A caring person with a warm heart
I would like to thank my family. Without their understanding and support, I would not have been able to successfully complete the foreign aid mission. What parent doesn’t want their children to be with them all the time? What lover doesn't want to stay with the other person forever? What child doesn't want his parents to care about him? But some things have to be done by someone, and some responsibilities have to be borne by someone. My daughter said this in her letter to me: "Dad, after seeing your care for the African people, I began to think about the meaning of life, and also understood your original intention of becoming a doctor - because wearing a white coat means you are proud. , covered in red blood, because there are no boundaries for practitioners and no boundaries for doctors! You once talked about hope with me, and now you have a certain idea in your heart. I hope that I can be admitted to an excellent medical school with my own efforts, and find myself like you. The meaning of life." I am deeply moved by the dedication and sacrifice of my family. When I return to my role as a family, I will definitely make up for my absence!
China and Zanzibar are thousands of miles apart, but thanks to "foreign medical aid", the two places are close at hand. What has Africa left for me this year? I think it may be the call of "a community with a shared future for mankind", it may be the responsibility of "medicine without boundaries and love without boundaries" , or it may be the smiling faces of different skin colors and different languages that respond to each other. From then on, there was another concern in my heart. It traveled across the ocean and was always warm ...
