援外医疗队所工作的是医疗资源缺乏和生活条件差的地区，桑给巴尔的奔巴地区这一点特别明显。今天所要讲述的是发生在该地区第32期中国（江苏）援外医生工作的故事。
      2023年3月20日，星期二，迎着朝阳，我来到了手术室准备开始当日的工作。当地staff们告诉我病人已经准备实施麻醉。因为是一需要使用C臂X光机的手术，所以我就正常地打开C臂机，可机器开启后不能正常工作。经过分析我认为可能是主控电脑发生了硬件故障，我正好对电器设备维修有一些经验，于是便尝试自己动手维修。暂停手术，找来螺丝刀、万用表等工具，经过努力很快就排除了故障，开机自检正常工作。一旁的当地staff们连连称赞“good engineer”。
​      早在医疗队员选拔面试时，面试官就提出去奔巴援助的骨科医师必须有一定的动手能力，因为在奔巴医疗器械缺乏严重，大型设备由于没有专人维护保养有一定的故障率。我知道自己在动手能力方面强，在大学期间就获得过多次校园课外发明制作活动的奖项。面试的时候我还列举了多个平时工作中自己动手的典型事例，这也打动了面试官。在近一年的援外工作中我的“多面手”用武之地可大了，基地家电故障维修、水电线路故障排查、网络设备维修和网络改造等我都能来。甚至在发现医院缺少脊柱外科手术专用的托架后，我还自己动手设计并利用硬质泡沫自制了一套，在实际使用中效果良好而且安全可靠。

Besides being a doctor, he's a good engineer

The areas where the China Medical Teams work are always lacking in various medical resources and poor living conditions, and this is particularly evident in  Pemba area of Zanzibar. What I want to tell you today is the story of the 32nd China (Jiangsu) foreign aid doctor working in this area.
On Tuesday, March 20, 2023, facing the rising sun, Dr. Yang Guojin the orthopedic surgeon of the China  Medical Team came to the operating room to prepare for the day's work. Local staffs told him the patient was being prepared for anaesthesia. Because it was an operation requires to use C-arm X-ray machine on that day. Dr. Yang Guojin normally opened the C-arm machine, but the machine did not work. After checking the machine, he thought that the main control computer of the C-arm machine may have a hardware failure, just for the electrical equipment maintenance has some experience, so he tried to repaire it himself. After suspending the operation, he found some tools such as screwdriver, multimeter, and quickly eliminate the fault after efforts. Then the machine worked normally. Dr. Yang Guojin was praised by local staffs nearby with the words "good engineer".
As early as the selection and interview of China Medical Team members, the interviewer proposed that the orthopedic surgeons who will go to Pemba need  having a certain practical ability, because the lack of medical equipment in Pemba is serious, and large equipment has a certain failure rate due to the lack of special maintenance. Yang Guojin was very calm in the interview, he knew that he is very strong in practical ability. During the university study he has won many campus extracurricular invention and production activities awards. He also cited a number of typical examples of do-it-yourself work, which deeply  impressed the interviewer at that time. In nearly one year of foreign aid work, Yang Guojin has shown a good image of a versatile doctor. He has been involved in the base home appliance fault maintenance, water and electricity line fault troubleshooting, base network equipment maintenance and network transformation. Even after finding that the hospital lacked special brackets for spinal surgery, he designed and made a set of hard foam himself, which worked well. It was safe and reliable during actual using.
